We’ve rounded up all the best events, fireworks displays, parades, and family-friendly activities happening in Alleghany, Bath, Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, and Rockbridge on or around July 4, 2024. Whether you’re looking for the perfect spot to watch fireworks, enjoy live music, or participate in patriotic festivities in the Covington Buchanan area, we’ve got you covered.

Buchanan Community Carnival - June 27th - July 6th - Buchanan Town Park, 485 Lowe St, Buchanan

  • Buchanan Community Carnival is celebrating its 70th year! Open daily from 6:00pm to 11:00pm except closed on Sunday June 30th. Featuring Cole Amusement rides, food, entertainment, and more. Two Fireworks shows, on July 4th and July 6th.

July 3rd

Freedom Food Festival - 12PM - Downtown LexingtonMain St, Lexington

  • Main Street in downtown Lexington is converted into a community street and music festival featuring live music, beer/wine sales, desserts, and tasty July 4th picnic-style fare. FREE admission.

Clifton Forge Fireworks Show - 6PM - C&O Railway Heritage Center, 705 Main St, Clifton Forge

  • Local non-profits will have plenty of food for sale and there will be performances by the Celebration Choir at 6pm. Fireworks show will begin at dusk.

July 4th

Children's Bike Parade - 9AM - The Hub, 314 S Main St, Lexington

  • Join us in beautiful downtown Lexington for the annual Children's Bike Parade on July 4th! Following the parade there will be watermelon and hotdogs at the W&L Parking Lot on Jefferson St.

Downtown Market Stars & Stripes Parade - 9:30AM - Downtown Clifton Forge

  • Join us for our annual Clifton Forge Stars and Stripes parade beginning at 11am followed by a ceremony honoring our Veterans and First Responders at the Historic Masonic Theatre. Be sure to check out the great selection of hand made crafts and delicious home made food our downtown market vendors have to offer starting at 9:30am. 

Craig County Independence Day Parade - 10AM - New Castle Fairgrounds, 343 Kanawha St, New Castle

  • Old-fashioned Parade featuring Everything Red, White & Blue. Music, floats, bikes & trikes. Everyone welcome!  Closing ceremonies and a “non-profit event” will be held at the new county Farmer’s Market.

Memories in Time Celebration - 12:30PM - Historic Masonic Theatre, Clifton Forge

  • Join us in the Tom Dean Underground (about 12:30) for Memories in Time–celebrating items placed in our 2016 Time Capsule and Cornerstone. Join us for the celebration and for the 119th birthday of The Historic Masonic Theatre–be a part of history!

Independence Day Fireworks - 7PM - Mitchell's Point Marina, Huddleston (SML)

Dark Sky Night: Independence Day Weekend Stargazing - 9PM - Natural Bridge State Park

  • Are you looking for a light show without the fireworks this Independence Day weekend? Join park rangers for an exploration of our night sky at this International Dark Sky Park.

July 6th

2024 Hot Air Balloon & Music Festival - 6AM - 6PM July 6th & 7th - Virginia Horse Center, Lexington

  • Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and enjoy great local bands, a variety of food and merchandise vendors, beer, children’s activities and most of all….. BEAUTIFUL HOT AIR BALLOONS!!!!

FREE July 6th Fireworks! - 12PM - Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing, New Castle

  • Join us on the weekend of July 6 for a 4th of July celebration! Live music with Glam'r Kiti, home-cooked food, cold beer, greater wine, FIREWORKS, camping, lodging, chillin' in the creek - this is how you celebrate the great U.S.A! Fireworks and music will be on Saturday, July 6th.

FireWORX Fest 2024 - 5:30PM - Downtown Moneta

  • Listen to the music of The WORX Band, enjoy great food and drink, an adult beverage garden, activities for the kids, and see the best fireworks display in the area. Gate opens at 5:30; music from 6pm to 10 pm with the fireworks immediately following.
